According to foreign media reports, the profit prospects of small and medium-sized OLEDs produced by LG Display are still unclear, and the planned price has dropped from 28,000 won to 24,000 won ($21.35).
Starting in the fourth quarter, LG Display will begin a new small-size polymer light-emitting diode (PLED) production line in Paju, South Korea. This strategic initiative is designed to meet the needs of major North American customers and to address the market for collapsible smartphones that are expected to grow from 2020.
However, some analysts said that even with the increase in production of new production lines and the annual depreciation cost of 500 billion won, there are still many uncertainties in the possibility of improving earnings.
Despite this, LG Display will increase its investment and convert its eighth-generation LCD production line to OLED production from next year. Soon, OLED will be the main source of revenue, and the stock price is unlikely to continue to fall.
