On the morning of September 27, the main structure of the first phase of the Kunming BOE project was capped. More than 180 people from the Kunming BOE staff, representatives of the shareholders, design, construction and supervision units attended the event and witnessed the capping ceremony of the first phase of the project.
At 9:58 am, the event officially started. Mr. Zeng Guilin, Chairman of Night Vision Group, Liu Xiaodong, President of BOE Technology Group, and Zhang Xiaokui, General Manager of China Construction First Bureau, delivered speeches respectively. Subsequently, the project team completed the pouring of the last piece of concrete. The project was officially started on April 26, 2018. It took only five months to complete the capping of the main structure, marking a phased victory in the project construction work and a good start for the follow-up work.
Kunming BOE Display Technology Co., Ltd. OLED microdisplay device production line project, located in the Lingkong Industrial Park, Yuzhong New District, Yunnan Province, is mainly engaged in the development, production and sales of active OLED microdisplay devices for civilian consumer applications. The total investment of the project is 1.15 billion yuan, with a land area of 136 mu and a total construction area of about 80,000 square meters. After the first phase of the project, the annual production capacity of 1 million pieces of OLED micro display devices can be realized.
List of main equipments of Kunming BOE OLED micro display production line
BOE's silicon-based OLED production line equipment suppliers in Kunming, Yunnan, have gradually surfaced. The silicon-based microdisplay OLED is similar to the current LTPS OLED technology, but the former has a higher PPI per inch and a smaller display size.
According to KIPOST summary on October 22, BOE has identified 16 suppliers of silicon-based OLED devices. Some of the supplier list is the original 6th generation (1500mm x 1850mm) OLED supplier, and there are some new faces.
G6's AMOLED core equipment Evaporator has always been the exclusive supplier of Cannon Tocky in Japan, but the silicon-based OLED production line is selected by Japan Choshu Industry.
The reason why suppliers can become suppliers of pilot line evaporation machines is that silicon-based OLEDs are not vapor deposited on TFTs, but instead vapor-deposit organic materials on Wafer. The 6th generation line uses a 1500mm*1850mm half plate, and organic matter evaporation is performed on it. However, the silicon-based OLED can be vapor-deposited on a 200 mm*300 mm Wafer as a substrate.
This is also because the panel size is less than 1 inch, and the evaporation difficulty can be greatly reduced after the substrate becomes smaller.
In this list, AP System is listed as the only supplier in Korea, and has signed two AVCVD equipment orders, which are predicted to be Transistor equipment or packaging process equipment on Wafer.
Previously, OLED dry etching equipment mainly used Japan's Tokyo Electronic or South Korea's ICD, but this list is RAM Research. The exposure equipment is not Nikon, Cannon, but the semiconductor equipment factory ASML.
According to Gao Wenbao, senior vice president of the BOE Technology Group Co., Ltd. and CEO of the Display and Sensor Group, today, the compound growth rate of VR is 53% in the next five years, and AR is 197%. With the development of AR/VR, microdisplays have become more and more important. According to its introduction, BOE has also accumulated many years of microdisplays. It has released a Micro OLED with a PPI greater than 5600. Its production line in Kunming has been capped, with an annual output of 1 million pieces.
