TCL Group Accelerates The Deployment Of Overseas Markets

In 2018, the performance of the domestic color TV industry in terms of market sales increased significantly. According to data from Avi Cloud (AVC), the retail volume of China's color TV market in the first half of 2018 was 22.6 million units, up 3.6% year-on-year, and the retail sales volume was 72.5 billion yuan, down 2.0% year-on-year. In the past, the killers of manufacturers have not been effective in the market where demand is not strong.


At the International Consumer Electronics Show in Berlin, Li Dongsheng, chairman of TCL Corporation, said that the situation of the global color TV industry is not good this year. The domestic market is close to the ceiling, and the total growth is not large. The overseas market still has a certain room for growth, but the overall structure of the overseas market is constantly changing, and companies with strong competitiveness have the opportunity to get a higher share.


Since 1999, TCL Group has accelerated the deployment of overseas markets. According to TCL Group's semi-annual report for the first half of 2018, the Group's overseas sales revenue accounted for 46.95%. The rapid growth of overseas business has become an important engine for the Group's performance growth.


Li Dongsheng revealed the new way of TCL's going to sea. In the past, there were not many cases in which Chinese companies were stronger and bigger by acquiring local companies in the process of going global. As early as 2003, TCL Group signed an agreement with France Thomson to reorganize the color TV and DVD business of both parties. As a result, TCL became the world's largest color TV manufacturer. The incident, together with Lenovo's acquisition of the IBM Personal Computer Division, became a landmark event for the internationalization of Chinese companies around 2003.


In addition to its overseas sales system and factory, TCL is also trying to break through the core technology overseas. Li Dongsheng said that in the future, TCL will focus on three areas in terms of technology strategy: artificial intelligence, Internet applications and cloud computing; second, new semiconductor display and materials; and third, intelligent manufacturing and industrial Internet.
