Taiwan's LCD TV Shipments Soared 15.9% In The Second Quarter

According to relevant data, thanks to the increase in shipments of large-size and private-label TVs, Taiwan’s LCD TV shipments in the second quarter of 2018 were 7.65 million units, with a quarterly growth rate of 15.9%.


According to a recent study by Digitimes Research, shipments by Taiwanese manufacturers in the second half of 2018 may be comparable to the same period last year, with quarterly shipments remaining at more than 9 million units.


As for Taiwanese manufacturers’ TV shipment destinations, North American market demand has rebounded since the second quarter; the proportion of Taiwanese producer TV shipments to the North American market may increase in the second half of 2018, partly due to seasonal factors, and partly because of It is because of Amazon's strong orders for Fire TV.


At the same time, Taiwanese manufacturers' 50-plus-size TV shipments accounted for a 10% increase in total shipments in the second quarter, while the ratio of 4K models to total shipments reached 40%.


Although Japanese customers accounted for the largest share of Taiwan's TV exports in the second quarter, Vizio, the largest customer of Taiwanese TV manufacturers, will begin to clear inventory and update orders in the second half of 2018 to meet peak season demand. North American and European market shipments may be Soaring.


In terms of Taiwan TV manufacturer rankings, TPV and Foxconn continue to be the top two manufacturers in the second quarter, but the combined ratio of total TV shipments to Taiwan has fallen below 80%. Driven by orders from Xiaomi, Ruixuan Technology ranked third; benefiting from orders from Toshiba Fire TV, Compal Computer ranked fourth.


Overall, Taiwanese TV shipments by Taiwan are expected to reach 33 million units in 2018, unchanged from the previous year.
