According to IHS's data report, shipments of TV panels of 60 inches and above in 2018 are expected to exceed 20 million.
In 2016, the shipment of large-size TV panels has just exceeded 10 million, and it has achieved 100% growth in just two years. The growth rate is surprising. IHS predicts that this number is expected to reach 54 million in 2025, and the market share will exceed 30%.
Ricky Park, director of display research at IHS Markit, said: "The increasing investment in the 10.5 generation line has driven the growth of the oversized TV panel market. The 10.5 foundry is capable of achieving economies of scale for oversized TV panels, which will enable production. Cost and supply prices have fallen, eventually turning into a decline in TV prices."
Among them, the performance of Chinese manufacturers is very important. In the second quarter of this year, the BOE 10.5 generation line started mass production. Huaxing Optoelectronics and Sharp are also accelerating the construction of 10.5 generation line capacity, and are expected to start mass production in 2019. The huge production capacity is bound to lower the price of ultra-large TV panels, which will stimulate their market share to continue to rise.
