LGD Purchase Evaporation Machine Will Start The Construction Of 10.5 Generation OLED Production Line

- Apr 17, 2019-

According to the Korean media The Elec, LGD sent a letter of intent to the Korean vapor deposition machine company YAS to purchase the steaming machine. It is scheduled to be placed 3 to 4 months later. The target is 2020, the machine will be delivered, and the 10.5 generation OLED of the Pazhou P10 factory will be officially launched. The road to production line construction.

Generally, if equipment is purchased in the second half of the year, equipment assembly will be carried out before the end of the year, and mass production will begin in the second half of the next year. Taking LGD Guangzhou 8.5 generation OLED production line as an example, the interval between the order of the machine and the formal mass production is estimated to be one year. However, the construction of the 10.5-generation OLED production line is an industry initiative, and it is not known whether it is similar in time.

It is speculated that if LGD officially launches the equipment investment of the P10 plant, it should give priority to ordering a 10.5-generation line production machine with a monthly capacity of about 30,000 pieces. It is understood that after LGD plans to build a 10.5-generation line of a P10 plant, it will build another production line for the Guangzhou 8.5-generation line factory. At present, there are two 8.5-generation OLED production lines in the Guangzhou plant, with a monthly capacity of 30,000 pieces each, and there is still room for expansion.

Previously, LGD was not successful in obtaining large-scale investment funds, which led to the continuous delay in investment time and the volatility in the field of OLED and LCD. Now that the official launch of the investment, there is no exclusion from the LG Group to fully support.

The Pazhou P10 factory currently only has a clean room on the third floor. If the first half of the machine cannot be delivered on schedule in 2020, the loss of the clean room will be completed in early 2019, which will result in a waste of time.

The 10.5 generation OLED production line is suitable for the production of 65-inch and 75-inch panels, which can help LGD increase the production of large-size OLED TV panels, and the substrate also has high cutting efficiency. Although the size of the substrate is increased, the corresponding exposure, evaporation, and cleaning equipment are increased, so the process time (tact time) is not affected. The output of the 65-inch and 75-inch panels is 2-3 times that of the 8.5-generation line. To reduce production costs and accelerate the popularity of the OLED TV market.

It is worth mentioning that the rollable display only needs to change the production materials such as transparent polyimide (PI), metal foil, etc., and can also be produced by using the existing OLED mass production line. Therefore, it is expected that the days of LGD production of roll-to-roll OLED displays will come soon.
