Continental Panel Continues To Expand Production

- Aug 15, 2018-

The panel is a typical boom cycle industry. The supply and demand situation determines the market's rise and fall. The new capacity of BOE, Huaxing Optoelectronics and other companies continues to open, and the market is oversupply, which is the biggest challenge for Group and AUO.

The Optoelectronics Technology Industry Association has bluntly stated that the mainland display panel industry has become a global production leader. The biggest challenge for the industry in the future is that there are too many panel factories and the pressure of oversupply has not disappeared.

Economic forecasting and business consulting agency IHS Markit shows that the general manager of the department research Xie Qinyi also believes that with the successive generations of panel manufacturers in the mainland, it is estimated that the global panel production capacity will show an annual growth rate of 5% to 10% in the next few years.

He also warned as early as April this year, with the continuous opening of new capacity in the mainland, the oversupply of the panel will last for three years from this year, and the pressure on the operation of the panel factory is large.

IHS Markit estimates that in 2022, there will be 19 large-size panel factories in the mainland for more than eight generations; there will be as many as 20 small and medium-sized panel factories in the 5.5-generation and above. Among them, BOE's first 10.5-generation factory in the world is positioned to produce 65-inch panels. The yield in April has reached 50%. It is estimated that the monthly production capacity will reach 120,000 pieces in full load in 2019, and the supply will increase greatly.
