It is reported that BOE has begun construction of a third 6G flexible OLED panel production line in Chongqing with a monthly capacity of 48,000 pieces.
According to the report, BOE plans to invest 46.5 billion yuan ($6.88 billion) in new production lines to produce flexible OLED panels for mobile phones, automobiles and notebook applications.
In May 2017, BOE launched the official operation of the first 6G flexible OLED production line in Chengdu. Currently, it is building a second 6G OLED production line in Mianyang, which is scheduled to be mass-produced in 2019.
After completing the second OLED product line, BOE is expected to continue to expand its market share in this area and compete with companies including Samsung Display, LG Display, Sharp and Japan Display (JDI).
According to IHS Markit data, global shipments of flexible OLED panels reached 157.6 million units in 2018, a three-fold increase from 2015. During this period, the compound annual growth rate reached 50%.
