It is reported that AU Optronics President Michael Tsai said recently that the company will continue to work hard to enter the high-end display market affected by oversupply and shrinking profit margins.

AUO is focused on enhancing its continuing strategy in the high-end market, while also meeting the market's growing demand for large-size, high-resolution display products.

Due to the strong demand for large size and 4K TV, TV sales in the Western European market in the first quarter of 2019 have increased, and the average size of TV panels has increased by 1.5 inches from a year ago. In the first quarter of the North American market, TV sales were flat, but the average size of TV displays increased by one inch. In the same period, sales in China's TV market were flat, but shipments of 50-inch or more TVs accounted for 60%. At the same time, sales of large-size TVs in emerging markets in Eastern Europe and Asia are also growing.

Therefore, in the first quarter of 2019, the shipment of 50-inch and above panels accounted for 40% of the total shipments of AUO's TV panels; the promotion of oversized panels such as 75-inch and 85-inch will be AUO's 2019 marketing efforts. the key of.

In terms of TV panel resolution, in the first quarter of 2019, AUO's 4K TV panel shipments increased by more than 20% year-on-year, accounting for 60% of total TV panel shipments this quarter.

Tsai revealed that after mass production of 8K TV panels in 2018, AUO will continue to increase its market share in the 65-inch and 75-inch 8K TV panels in 2019.

In addition, AUO plans to increase the shipment of borderless TV monitors by more than 30% in 2019, while further optimizing its GOA technology. At the same time, after achieving a 30% year-on-year increase in the first quarter, it is expected that shipments of AU Optronics IT panels (for displays and notebooks) will continue to grow strongly in 2019. Tsai said that AUO also plans to further improve the product portfolio of Mini LED backlight panels in 2019.
