VESA Releases New Display Industry Standard Display HDR

It is understood that this release of the Display HDR standard is the first fully open standard in the video industry. It defines the quality of high dynamic range (HDR) through test specifications. The standards include brightness, color gamut, bit depth and rise. time.

At the conference site, James Choate, VESA Compliance Program Manager, said: "VESA standards cover a wide range of products, primarily for personal computers and notebook computers. The specific content of the Display HDR standard

It is reported that this release of the Display HDR standard establishes three HDR performance levels for PC monitors: Basic (DisplayHDR 400), Intermediate (DisplayHDR 600) and Advanced (DisplayHDR 1000). The specification identifies and certifies these three levels through eight specific parameters and related tests, including:

● Three peak brightness tests involving different scenes: small spots/high brightness, short-time full-screen flash brightness, and optimized use in bright environments (such as daylight environments or bright office lighting environments);

● Two contrast measurement tests: one for local panel contrast and the other for local dimming;

●BT. Color testing of 709 and DCI-P3 gamuts;

● Depth of Demand Test: used to determine the minimum depth of position, including a simple visual test to the end user to confirm the test results;

● HDR response performance test: Set performance standards, analyze the response speed of the backlight to changes in brightness level, and formulate backlight response performance standards for fast moving lenses for games and movies.

For an industry standard, there is a certain distance from the completion of the formulation to landing. Regarding the specific landing situation of DisplayHDR, James Choate said in an interview: “The Display HDR project was started a year and a half ago. At present, there are more than 10 products that have passed the certification, and half of them have been mass-produced.
