LG Electronics plans to launch artificial intelligence TV in more countries

According to the Yonhap News Agency, on August 24, South Korea’s consumer electronics and home appliance maker LG Electronics announced that it will launch Google TV with its Google speech recognition program and its own artificial intelligence platform Deep ThinQ in more countries to provide users with a wider range of products. In May of this year, LG Electronics first adopted Google's artificial intelligence voice assistant Google Assistant on TV released in the United States. LG Electronics said it will launch TV products using Google programs in other regions, including Korea, Germany, the United Kingdom and Canada. By the end of 2018, LG Electronics will launch TV products using Google's artificial intelligence voice assistant in eight countries.


LG Electronics said its TV with Google Assistant will support other languages, such as German, French, Spanish and Korean, in addition to English.


The tech giant plans to show how its TV products connect Google's translations, maps and other services in different languages during the International Consumer Electronics Show (IFA2018) in Berlin, which opens next week.


Users can access information such as weather information, popular restaurants and sports event results by pressing the buttons of the LG AITV remote control or by voice commands. Consumers can also create their own schedules on Google Calendar.


LG Electronics further stated that its artificial intelligence TV can connect to the Amazon artificial intelligence speaker Echo.


LG Electronics also said that the company will continue to expand its artificial intelligence services under its three visions of open platforms, open cooperation and open connectivity.
