Recently, the famous British research company ihs market released a global LCD panel research report. Among them, China BOE (boe) has become the NO.1 of display panel companies by surpassing South Korea's LG Company with a global shipment of 22.3%.

In recent years, with the rapid rise of companies such as BOE and AU Optronics, the panel technology pattern that was originally monopolized by Japanese and Korean companies has quietly changed. According to data provided by ihs, the top five panel supply companies in the world are China BOE (22.3%), South Korea lg (21.6%), Taiwan AU Optronics (auo, 16.4%) and Taiwan Innolux. Photoelectric (innolux, accounting for 15.7%) and South Korea's Samsung panel (9.9%).

Data China panel companies shipped more than Japan and Korea for the first time

From the data point of view, Japanese companies have fallen out of the top five ranks, and Korean companies have only a "good brothers" combination. On the contrary, Chinese enterprises that have sprung up suddenly have become the main force. As the situation of the team changed, many panel companies also adjusted their strategies accordingly. Some insiders said that the battle between China and South Korea in the panel field will be fierce this year. For example, this year, Samsung Electronics will invest nearly 9 billion US dollars to expand the oled production line, and tcl also spent 35 billion yuan to lay out the amoled flexible display panel.

At present, on the LCD screen of more than 9 inches, BOE's shipments are larger than other peers, including tablet screens, laptop screens and monitors. Among them, the notebook computer screen is the highest market share in the BOE market, reaching 29%, and the market share of Taiwan's Innolux, ranked second, is 20%.

According to Wu Rongbing, senior analyst of ihs, who is responsible for researching the LCD layout, "Jingdong has taken very aggressive measures. It is trying to increase its shipments when competitors shift their attention to other areas."

In large-size TV display projects, such as large-size LCD TVs, ultra-high-definition TVs, etc., South Korea's lg still ranked first with 21.4% market share. Followed by Taiwan Innolux, with a market share of 16.3%; BOE ranked third with 15.9%.

Therefore, Wu Rongbing believes that Korean panel companies still have the advantage in technology and market share on large panels, and his prediction is that BOE will soon join the competition of large panels. “2017 will be a year for Chinese panel makers to fully expand their business areas and enter the large panel market dominated by Koreans”.

This side of the domestic panel manufacturers frequently accelerate the layout

In fact, BOE has been expanding its layout for large-size panels for a long time. As early as November 29 last year, the 10.5th generation tft-lcd production line of BOE Hefei Plant completed the capping. The commissioning of the panel plant is expected to increase BOE's share of the global premium panel market.

Coincidentally, another panel maker in China, Huaxing Optoelectronics, also looked at the timing and accelerated the layout of the oled panel production line. On March 31, tcl Group announced that its Huaxing Optoelectronics had signed a 6-generation ltps-amoled project cooperation agreement with Wuhan Donghu New Technology Development Zone Management Committee, and plans to invest in a plant with a monthly production capacity of 45,000. Zhang's 6th generation ltps-amoled flexible display panel (1500mm×1850mm) production line will use advanced technologies such as flexible substrates for the highest-end panel products, flexible ltps process, high-efficiency oled, flexible touch and flexible cover. The evaporation process produces a 3 to 12 inch high resolution medium and small size flexible collapsible amoled display panel.

The announcement shows that the project is scheduled to start construction before June 30, 2017, and mass production will be achieved by 2020. The total investment of the project is about 35 billion yuan. Among them, the registered capital of the project company is 21 billion yuan, Huaxing Optoelectronics has invested 11 billion yuan, and the investment entity designated by Wuhan Donghu Management Committee has invested 10 billion yuan.

Because the amoled panel has the advantages of light and flexible display, high contrast and fast response, it is beneficial for display in foldable smartphones, wearable electronic devices, car and vr/ar. According to ihs data, ltps-lcd and ltps-amoled continue to increase penetration in the global smartphone market, reaching 41% and 30% respectively in 2018, occupying a major market share.

In addition, there is news that Apple also plans to adopt the amoled screen at the beginning of the new smartphone launched this year. Domestic mobile phone manufacturers represented by oppo, vivo and Huawei have also gradually increased the application ratio of amoled in their high-end smartphones.
