According to industry sources, due to the establishment of the new LCD factory and the surge in production capacity of existing production lines, the annual growth rate of large-size panel production in 2019 will reach 12%.
A total of four fabs specializing in the production of large-size panels will be launched in 2019, and Huaxing Optoelectronics (CSOT)'s 11G production line will become the first mass production plant in the first quarter of this year.
The second to achieve mass production will be Huike 渝 (HKC)'s 8.6G production line. The Luzhou plant is HKC's second 8.6G plant and is scheduled to begin mass production in the second quarter of 2019 with a monthly capacity of 150,000 units. According to sources, the new 8.6G amorphous silicon LCD production line will have a total investment of 24 billion yuan (US$3.577 billion). It will use 2,250*2,600mm glass substrates to produce flat panels, most of which are 32, 43, 50 and 58 inches. . When operating at full capacity, the total annual output value of the 8.6G line will reach 22 billion yuan.
LG Display's 8.5G OLED production line in Guangzhou is also scheduled to begin operations in the second quarter of this year. According to sources, the fourth wafer fab to be mass-produced is the 10.5G production line of the subsidiary of Hon Hai Group, which is scheduled to begin commercial production in October 2019.
Sources pointed out that in addition to the new fab, BOE is currently increasing the production of the 10.5G production line in Hefei, and Rainbow Group is also expanding its production capacity in the Xianyang 8.6G production line.
At the same time, sources said that Samsung Display plans to convert one of its 8.5-generation LCD factories into a production base for QD-OLED panel development, which will help alleviate the impact of oversupply in the industry.
